Drugs for itching

Five drugs were compared to a placebo and no drug with 10 volunteer male subjects aged 20-30. Each subject underwent one treatment per day: Drug (or placebo) were given intravenously, and then itching was induced on their forearms with cowage, an effective itch stimulus. The subjects recorded the duration of the itching.

Variables.

1. Subject: Identification number assigned for each subject
2. Placebo: Duration of itching by placebo
3. Papaverine: Duration of itching by papaverine
4. Morphine: Duration of itching by morphine
5. Aminophyl: Duration of itching by aminophylline
6. Pentob: Duration of itching by pentobarbital
7. Tripelen: Duration of itching by tripelennamine
