Frequency Function

The distribution of frequency column(specified on the left) is graphically presented along with for the column of outcomes. The bar graph may indicate a particular outcome with the highest frequency, the existence of mode of the distribution of interest.

To find the probability of an event from the frequency function $f(k)$, it is important to determine the exact range $\{i \le X \le j\}$ of the random variable X. Then it is computed as

P( $ \le X \le$ ) = $f(i) + f(i+1) + \cdots + f(j)$ =

Essential characteristics of discrete distribution are given by the mean $ \mu$ and the standard deviation $ \sigma$. They are formulated and computed as follows.

$\mu = \displaystyle\sum k \cdot f(k) =$

$\sigma = \displaystyle\sqrt{\sum (k - \mu)^2 \cdot P(k)} =$
